The Mews in Greenwich
Located one half block off the heart of Greenwich Ave, The Mews is a gem of a retirement community loved by those lucky enough to find us.
Completed in 1970, The Mews was the first senior living residence in downtown Greenwich, CT. Upgraded throughout the years, The Mews was the brainchild of Mrs. Nancy Carnegie Rockefeller. In the 1940's, Mrs. Rockefeller created the "Merry Go Round", which served as a daily senior center, meant to keep senior citizens engaged in the local community. However, as the need for day centers waned, the need for reasonably priced, senior housing increased. Hence, The Mews Senior Living community was born!
We are a private, non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization, dedicated to keeping senior citizens living independently in Greenwich as long as possible. We attract residents from close and far, including Greenwich, Cos Cob, Darien, Rye, and other communities throughout the Northeast. Governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors, volunteers from The Hortulus Garden Club and other organizations, supplement a devoted, long-term team of professionals providing care and service for The Mews' residents.
